OVERVIEW
Beautiful knit sweater in a charming combination of Garter stitch and lace sleeves. A ribbing at neckline, cuffs and hem hold their shape and provide a polished finish. The soft-knit body with mock neck to keep you warm and stylish at the same time.
This is variation of my easier Alaska Dream sweater.
This ultra feminine Fern sweater is worked in the round with circular needles, bottom up as far as the armholes. Then the front and back pieces are finished separately, back and forth on the needle.
The sleeves are worked back and forth top-down.
The neck is worked in the round with circular needles.
The pieces are sewn together to finish.
Because of the weight of the yarn and knitting style this sweater stretches well.
SIZES: XS, S, M, L, M, XL, 2XL, 3XL.
This sweater has approx 15-20 cm (6-8 inches) of positive easy at the bust.
Finished Sweater measurements: approx. 100-105-112-118-124-130-136 cm or 40-41-44-46-49-51-53 inches.
I wear size S (my bust is 90 cm/ 35 inches).
STITCHES - simple Knit and Purl stitches (Garter stitch, Rib), K2tog (decreases in the sleeves). Yo - yarn over. Ssk - slip, slip, knit.
YARN - Super chunky yarn is great for beginner knitters. It works up really fast and you can also see what you are doing easily. It is simple to spot and correct any mistakes, and knitting with chunky yarn is generally just a lot of fun.
You can choose the yarn specified in the sweater pattern or something similar enough. I used Crazy Sexy Wool yarn (color Eucalyptus Green) for this project.
- “Crazy Sexy Wool” by Wool and the Gang or “The Wool” by We are knitters (100% wool, 200 grams/80 metres).
you will need 5, 6, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8 skeins for your size.
NEEDLES - circular needles 15 mm (US 19) - 80 cm/ 31 inches total length.
GAUGE - On 6 stitches in width and 12 rows (or 6 ribs) vertically you should get 10 x 10 cm/ 4x4 inch piece in Garter stitch.
