Why Mellow Mood cardigan?

The inspiration truly came from you, my adventurous beginners.
Seeing your pride after finishing the Mellow Mood Sweater or Top made me want to design the next step — a cardigan.

It’s still simple, still stylish, with just a few new techniques.
So you can focus on what matters most: the joy of finishing your very first cardigan.

And it’s unisex!
Alex swore he wouldn’t wear this “grandfather cardigan” outside… until he tried it on.
I think he’s finally taking knitwear seriously 😄

Something extra for beginners

When I design, I always start with the yarn.
I look for fibers that are easy for you to work with — soft on the skin, easy to unravel if needed, yet still beautiful (hello, Drops Nepal and Drops Belle).

But I also know you love that light, elegant drape.
So I knitted one version of the Mellow Mood Cardigan with Drops Air (a blown yarn that’s literally twice as light).

And I’ve been wearing it every day this past week. 😊

To help you try it too, I put together a Blown Yarn Guide with tips on how to substitute yarns, how much to buy, and what to expect when knitting with this airy type of fiber.

Behind the scenes

I was lucky to have an incredible group of test knitters who made this design truly beginner-friendly.
They didn’t leave me any chance to keep something unclear 😄♥️

Even though many had delays getting their yarn, they still sent me their feedback, tips, and beautiful photos.
You can already see some of their finished projects on Ravelry, and more are coming soon!
